GLORIFYING GOD, MAGNIFY GOD

I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving. (Psalm 69:30)
The whole duty of the Christians can be summed up as follows: we have to feel, think, and act in a way that will make God look as great as he really is. Be a telescope for the world of the infinite starry wealth of the glory of God. There is nothing and nobody superior to God. And so the calling of those who love God is to make his greatness begin to look as great as it really is.

This is what it means for a Christian to magnify God. But you can’t magnify what you haven’t seen or what you quickly forget. Therefore, our first task is to see and to remember the greatness and goodness of God. So we pray to God to, “Open the eyes of our hearts,” and we preach to our souls to not forget all his benefits.
To “glorify” God means to give glory to Him. The word glory as related to God in the Old Testament bears with it the idea of greatness of splendour. In the New Testament, the word translated “glory” means “dignity, honour, praise and worship.” Putting the two together, we find that glorifying God means to acknowledge His greatness and give Him honour by praising and worshiping Him, primarily because He, and He alone, deserves to be praised, honoured and worshipped. God’s glory is the essence of His nature, and we give glory to Him by recognizing that essence.
The offering we bring to God as we come before Him in the splendour or beauty of His holiness involves agreement, obedience, submission, and rehearsing His attributes or extolling Him. Glorifying God begins with agreeing with everything He says, especially about Himself. In Isaiah 42:5, God declares, “I am the Lord God. I created the heavens like an open tent above. I made the earth and everything that grows on it. I am the source of life for all who live on this earth, so listen to what I say.” Because of who He is, holy and perfect and true, His proclamations and statutes are holy and perfect and true (Psalm 19:7), and we glorify Him by listening to and agreeing with them. God’s Word, the Bible, is His Word to us, all that we need for life in Him. Listening to and agreeing with Him, though, will not glorify Him unless we also submit to Him and obey the commands contained in His Word. “But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts” (Psalm 103:17-18). Jesus reiterated the idea that glorifying and loving God are one and the same in John 14:15: “If you love me, you will obey what I command.”
Psalm 117:1-2; “Praise the LORD, all nations; Laud Him, all peoples! For His lovingkindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD is everlasting. Praise the LORD!”

10 bible verses for when you are over thinking

When we over think; it is when we think too much, instead of acting on things. It is when we analyse, comment and repeat the same thoughts over and over again instead of acting.

Over thinking happens when something bad happens, we think about the worst scenarios, with thoughts like “what if?” or “why?”; when we slip now and then into negative thinking patterns, and when we worry about past mistakes or current problems and issues, and how they might lead to negative outcomes.
This habit prevents us from taking action. It consumes our energy, disables our ability to make decisions, and puts us on a loop of thinking and thinking over and again.
Here are 10 Bible verses for when you’re over thinking, to help you get back to a more peaceful, faithful place.
1. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39
2. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” – Exodus 14:14
3. Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your hearts on things above, not on earthly things.” – Colossians 3:1-2
4. Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” – Galatians 1:10
5. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us…” – Hebrews 12:1
6. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:5
7. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matthew 6:33-34
8. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid: do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
9. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
10. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23
When we don’t over think, we become more efficient, more peaceful and more happy.

THE WORD OF THE LORD

Are you troubled by the lack of concentration when it’s time for Bible Study? Are you finding it difficult to focus on yourBible reading due to disturbing thoughts of what you would like to munch on, thoughts of tomorrow’s outfit choice or just any other topic that you can think of that is usuallyalternating; going back and forth in your brain? This means that you are easily distractible. But with a whole lot of prayer you can be able to fight the frustration and the feelingsinadequacy that is associated with the challenge of losing interest in Bible Studying. Today I want share some tips you can use to get the most out of your Bible Study.

1. Open with Prayer. This is a way of asking for the guidance of the Holy Spirit so that you can be able to grasp the deep and meaningful truths of the revelation which concerns the character or works of our heavenly father.
2. Partner up. Have an accountable partner. This is a person who will not only encourage you, but will go through the Bible study session with you, and also be willing to call you out if necessary. This is a tried and tested method of success that has been used by many people.
3. Really read the Bible. You have to read the whole Bible and passages relevant to the knowledge being emphasized in the particular study. When you read the whole Bible book involved in the study you can be able get the overall picture and sense of the total message and its impact.
4. Keep notes of your studies. At first it can feel like you are doing too much admin so it is important that you make memorable notes that take out the work out of this task. You can be creative and make bullet points prayers or even divide your journal into topics; or any other way that will help you to focus and have fun with it.
5. Make it enjoyable. Align the Bible Study time with one of your favourite activities as this can help you to focus more. It can also help you to relax and find Bible studying more pleasurable.
6. Get rid of your gadgets. These include cell phones, television, iPads, mp3, etc. These causes major distractions; for instance, it can be difficult to ignore you phone when it rings; TV can steal your attention by showing your favourite shows so it is best when it off than on mute.
7. Choose a time that best suits your needs. Timing is everything because it will increase your consistency. Your Bible Studies have to be on the same time every day, be it in the morning or evening, either way you get to spend time with your heavenly father.
8. Have a set out plan. Yes, it is understandable that we want to keep our Bible Study spontaneous but taking The Bible Book and simply opening a random section will not help. It is best to go by it topic by topic or Book by Book as long as you are keeping the consistency.
I believe that these are simple tips that will keep you enticed in your Bible Study and in your journey to build a closer relationship with God.

OVERCOME ANXIETY WITH THE LORD

Anxiety, worry and tension are some of the most destructive forces we can face today. They steal our strength and slowly undermine our faith, keeping us from maturing in the Lord. If we are to grow in our relationship with Jesus, we must discover God’s plan for freedom from the crippling cycle of anxiety. Philippians 4:6 says: “Do not worry about anything,” writes Paul, “but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God.” The underlying message here is very clear: Pray more. Give thanks more. And don’t focus on your anxiety.

God wants us to be free from worry. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). But to enter that rest we have to cut off stress’ source of power: our unbelief (Heb. 3:19).
Jesus has confronted our futile anxiety. He tells us to look at how God feeds the birds of the air and arrays the lilies of the field. How much more will He care for his children?
Anxiety affects how we feel and behave, and it can manifest real physical symptoms. Mild anxiety is vague and unsettling, while severe anxiety can be extremely debilitating, having a serious impact on daily life. Therefore whenever we get the anxious, we should always remember that in Matthew 6:26-34 Jesus has confronted our fruitless anxiety. He tells us to look at how God feeds the birds of the air and arrays the lilies of the field. How much more will He care for his children?
“Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life’s span? And why are you anxious about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; thy do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith? Do not be anxious then saying What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘With what shall we clothe ourselves?’ For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”.
We should learn to cast our cares to Him. Every day will bring new opportunities to cast our cares upon Him. One of the best ways we can do this is by replacing our worry and tension with prayer and thanksgiving. “Be anxious for nothing,” the Bible says, “but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Phil 4:6). This command is followed by a wonderful promise: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:7).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

How to celebrate your birthday with God
Father, thank You for seeing me through yet another yearand the opportunity to celebrate with You.
I would like to kick start my birthday with a bang and in style, well my own true personal style. Word is a have thing about birthdays. I see them as God’s gift to celebrate the people he has made each one of us to be and as an opportunity to take a moment and reflect on where we are in the process of fulfilling His purpose for our lives.
It is a day when you are supposed to have a private joyous meeting with God; a day where you are supposed to spend some time out in the serene quiet place; either on to of a rock admiring nature or in a bench in the shade at a nearby park; with your bible and your notebook. Read your bible, reflect back, look forward, and talk to God and listen to Him when he provides you with the answers of where you are in your spiritual development process. Most importantly, end by writing a prayer filled with thanks giving and requests of future blessings; keep it your bible or journals so that you can be able to reflect back on it during the year.
I believe that the purpose of our birthdays is to reflect and to keep track of what we have been assigned to achieve by God.
It is good to be thankful for what we have and what you have accomplished. But if we are to appreciate the fruits of life, we must first appreciate the tree that bears the fruit which is birth itself. Birth is your beginning. It is a window to the chance of a lifetime, the chance to fulfil our unique mission. So a birthday is a memorable occasion to always be commemorated.
You can also celebrate your birthday by committing to a special act of goodness. It is easy enough to say you are thankful; it is far better to show it by doing a kind deed, something that you did not do yesterday. Not because someone is forcing you. Not because someone suggests it. But simply because your inner goodness, your soul, wants to express its gratitude for being born and alive.
Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain…” 1 Chronicles 4:10.

PEACE AT MIND WITH YOUR EMOTIONS

How to find balance in your emotions
Between work, tasks, errands and chores that we accumulate during the day, it is easy for us to feel like we need to work 25 hours, seven days a week just to keep up. Everything on that instance becomes urgent and this may leave us overwhelmed therefore, it is important to have emotional balance because there is no end to the onslaught of modern life.

Being emotionally balanced means that you are allowing yourself to experience your feelings as they evolve bynot avoiding or suppressing them, also you are not being so attached to them and also not recognising that they are all-consuming. Emotional balance occurs when we allow ourselves to feel whatever comes up, without being overwhelmed by it, and learn to accept our feelings without judgment.
It is understandable that nobody wants to feel pain but avoiding it is not the answer. Our wishful thinking tells us that if we can just avoid the pain, it won’t affect us. Ironically, efforts to keep painful thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations at bay may work temporarily, at the end of the da, you have to deal with these challenges at some stageThe harder you work to avoid pain, the greater your suffering tends to be.
The following are several levels of awareness that might help you to cultivate your emotional balance.
1. Become consciously aware of the emotions you are experiencing. Although you may not understand or know what the feeling is, it is important to simply notice and acknowledge that you have some feeling.
2. Try to identify the particular emotion. Close your eyes, turn your focus inward, and allow yourself to experience that emotion in your body. Different emotions are typically experienced in different parts of the body. For example, anger might manifest as tightness in your neck and shoulders, sadness as an aching in your chest, fear as a knot in your stomach, and joy as warmth in your heart.
3. Put the emotion into words. “I’m feeling anxious.” “I’m feeling angry.” “I’m feeling sad.” Putting the emotions you experience into words by making these simple self-statements can create the space you can use to respond intentionally rather than react automatically and unconsciously.
Emotional balance can be achieved by practicing emotional regulation and distress tolerance. Emotional regulation relates to identifying the emotions that are being felt in the moment, and observing them without being overwhelmed by them. Emotional regulation skills include self-soothing activities that help to reduce emotional intensity and provide a calming effect, such as: meditation, intentional breathing, yoga, listening to music you enjoy, progressive muscle relaxation, taking a walk or a hike, reading something pleasurable or spiritual, singing a favourite song, exercising, visualizing a comforting/relaxing image, journaling, etc.
Emotions, especially powerful, disturbing ones, can seem as though they will last forever. However, whether they are positive and bring smiles to our face and laughter to our lips, or painful and bring hurt to our hearts and tears to our eyes, feelings are always temporary. They come and go. Sometimes they leave sooner than we would like; other times they stay way past the point when we want them to leave, but eventually they all leave.
Lastly we have to be prepared to let go of your attachments to any particular outcome so that you can be open to something bigger than you have ever imagined. Learn that to yield does not mean that you lose and be willing to compromise. Let life lead you down unexpected turns and you will discover magic in the most ordinary places.

30 WAYS TO GET ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN GOD

How important is it to be grounded in the Word of God?  Christians without the grounding of the Word of the God are completely lost; they have no direction and no knowledge of the gift of salvation.  If we don’t know the absolute truth, then how will we know the lie?  Without the truth we have no direction.  Truth be told without being grounded in the Word of God, we are on a road to destruction so here are a few ways you can follow to get grounded and rooted in God.

1. Spend some time learning God’s values, applying them in His way and you will find peace beyond all understanding that the bible talks about in John14:27 and Phil4:7.
2. Read the bible, or listen on Audio CD’s, watch and listen on DVD’s.
3. Find a bible believing church, worship and get connected.
4. Join a small group of men who are Christ followers and process life together.
5. Listen to Christian music, and men of God delivering powerful messages on the radio.
6. Allow a man of faith, good character and integrity, to mentor you, to become your   accountability partner.
7. Get involved in a weekly or daily devotional.
8. Learn the importance of prayer, and practice it.
9. Become like our Master, Jesus, follow him and copy his life.
10. Be filled with the fullness of God and comprehend the love of Christ.
11. Change from the old sinful man to the new life; abandon the old sins and habits.
12. Keep your commitment to the church, to your family and your work.
13. Learn the facts and truth of the scriptures.
14. Obey what doesn’t always make sense. Don’t live by sight, live by faith. (Colossians 2:7)
15. Love your bible, read it and study it; learn it inside and out.
16. Be grounded in love; be a Christian with substance.
17. See your way through the storm by trusting God to get you through it.
18. Plant yourself in God’s words.
19. Learn God’s principles as given to us in the Living Word of God, the bible and apply them in your life. (James1:22).
20. Develop and know the real love that out lasts your feelings and the performance of the other person.
21. Stop holding on forgiveness – forgive people who have hurt you on the same amount that God has forgiven you and you will be left with everlasting love.
22. Substitute lust and possessions for the truth.
23. Take God at His word, even when you don’t feel like it. You should put God’s Word over your feelings.
24. Strengthen your mind with the truth of God’s word and you will be able to stand any challenge.
25. Keep your roots in God’s hands so that you may be able to grow like a tree.
26. When you find yourself worrying and in fear, find your position in back at the feet of Christ.
27. Learn new ways to operate in life, how to operate from the position of God’s child.
28. Live in His Truth that His lover covers all, it is the foundation and the only source of our life.
29. Develop a lifestyle that is settled in God’s love and not on any other rule or power or philosophy.
30. Practice Matt28:19-20; “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the end of the age

GODLY WIFE

Wife duties according to the bible

What does it mean to be a godly woman? Does it mean that you have house wife, taking care of the house and letting your husband work to provide for you and your children? You have to throw away your college education and skills and be dependent on your husband? If we try to define the role of a wife according to our own understanding we will the opportunities that God has for us to good wives; therefore let us turn to the bible to get a better understanding of our role according to the word of God.

Genesis 2:18, “And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; let us make for him a help suitable to him.” This scripture show that the very first duty of a wife is to help her husband.
The duty of a good wife, who wants to see a strong marriage and family, is to be the complement to her husband in a way that God has instructed both of them, she must be by his side as his helper. She is not just some extra on the side, she is an indispensable part of God’s Divine plan.
God made women helpers because men desperately needs help. The wife has to cover the husband’s faults and fulfiltheir scriptural duty; analyse the kind of helper God has called them to be. Proverbs 31 also give a very vivid example of a Godly wife. Good wives strive to be like this woman and those who are not married aspire to possess this personality.
Proverbs 31:10, “Who shall find a virtuous woman? For such a one is more valuable than precious stones.” This scripture tell us that as a wife you have to look at yourself as a priceless diamond, as you are in God’s eyes, then you’ll be seen has wise, strong and fearless.
Proverbs 31:12, “For she employs all her living for her husbands good.” This is a wife who seeks the good of her husband all the days of his life. Just as he is loving, honouring and cherishing you, you have to ask yourself, “What good can I be to him today?”
Proverbs 31:13; 14; 16; 24 talk about a wife who helps her husband in and out of their household. A woman who uses her college education and skills to benefit her family. A woman who uses and spend money wisely considering that she is doing all that she can to the good of her husband. A woman who is not in a monetary competition with her husband but does everything for the enhancement of the home and the enhancement of her husband. There is no monetary competition.
One of a wife’s other duties is to raise the next generation of godly seed. And if you have to leave the house so much that you cannot assist your husband as a parent and guardian then you’re not fulfilling what God has told you to do.
Wives are also given these roles amongst others;
Mentors – Titus 2:4-5 says, “Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”
Witnesses – 1 Peter 3:1 says, “Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behaviour of their wives.”
Examples – 1 Timothy 3:11 says, “In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.”

PATIENTLY WAITING FOR MR.RIGHT

If there is one thing people hate to do in our generation is to wait. And why should we, if we can search for what we need on the internet? Today everything is easily accessible which makes waiting unbearable. We prefer buying products online rather than suffering the long lines at the retail store. Furthermore, we can book reservations ahead of time rather than waiting for a table at our desired establishment. We are always in a hurry to get things done and we expect God to sail in the same boat as we do which is impossible.

We forget that God doesn’t operate any faster in the 21stcentury than He did in the beginning. He is still the same God even today therefore while we can’t rush God as much as we rush ourselves. We have to recognise that we have to wait on Him, his timing is always perfect.
But this doesn’t mean that you have to wait in suspense; you can wait and live at the same time. You can embrace this process, embrace the beautiful uncertainty of your waiting season, knowing and trusting that somehow, somewhere an answer is on the way. You don’t have to fight and struggle against it, nor deny it and worry about how you are going to reach the final destination. You should as time passes by in-between the not knowing, in the not yet ready, there is great joy, purpose and hope.
You should recognise that God is in control even when it seems that has forgotten you. Look at the words of Habakkuk on the Old Testament; “Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it” (Habakkuk 1:5, NLT).
Often when it seems nothing is happening is when everything is happening behind the scenes. You just can’t see it. The machinery of God’s sovereignty was at work, unbeknownst to me.
God doesn’t show us the circumstances that he is working out in order to put me where you are supposed to bein a healthy relationship with a man that God specially created for you.
Renew your faith in God’s quiet, steady wisdom. Do you know that every major figure in the Bible was required to wait for some time before God could bring them to a place of success? For instance, Abraham waited twenty-five years before his wife Sarah gave birth to their first child. Joseph slogged through thirteen years of betrayal, false imprisonment, and abandonment before assuming the leadership of Egypt. Moses spent forty years tending sheep before God called him as a deliverer of His people. David spent fourteen years before the throne of Israel would be his. And in Jesus’s own ministry, he often told his disciples “My hour has not yet come.”
If you are uncertain and doubtful, you should use that period to draw closer to God refine your skills and prepare for the time when that big change comes. You should be prepared for what is to come; looking at this waiting time as a season of growth and development and you will find that you will be ready for that big moment.
Allow God’s standards to become your standards. Allow His examples of love and marriage to become your compass and your truth, because this world will tell you everything but the TRUTH! Your feelings and thoughts will also lie to you. But if you can align your thoughts and feelings with God’s Word, then you will know that you’re getting what God has for you.
As Proverbs 3:5-6 says; “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding: in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
