Cameras are complicated and it takes time to fully understand them. So don’t try to understand them all at once because you will end up being lost. So here are 10 easy ways to help you take better photos according to Josh, an expert photographer

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my Disclosure for more info.

1. Learn Manual Mode1
Manual mode is much like using an old film SLR from the 1960’s, when they didn’t have buttons that do it all for you. Being the only option, photographers were forced to learn to use their cameras in manual. In doing so, they fully learnt how their cameras worked.
Priority modes are good for some situations but, once you know how to properly shoot on manual, you’ll find there’s no need for them and you’ll get better results on your own
2. Learn Basic Composition Techniques… and then Forget Them
This one might seem a little funny but let me explain…
Once you’ve learnt basic composition techniques, such as the rule of thirds and the use of lines, you start to look at everything differently and see how you might frame a photo, even when you haven’t got a camera on you.
This knowledge sticks with you and subtly helps your photos improve.
Well then, why forget them?
Simple: as a photographer, this becomes too obvious to be interesting and you’ll become bored of your photos. One of the main challenges of photography is to keep your photos fresh and interesting. You can do this by pushing the boundaries of the ‘rules’ of photography.
3. No On Camera Flash!
I can’t stress this enough: on camera flash (pop-up especially) is incredibly unflattering to your subject and really flattens your image.
When the light comes from the same angle as the lens, you’re left without any of the scene’s natural shadows. Photos with on camera flash may as well have been taken on your phone.
When I first started out, I hated the pop-up flash so much so that I didn’t consider myself a ‘flash’ person. This lasted until a friend talked me into buying an external flash unit; I finally saw what I was missing – buy one now!
4. Find a Fresh Perspective
As a tall person, I always find myself adjusting my height when taking photos of people so that I’m not looking down on them. I try to take this a little further where possible and find new ways of looking at photos.
Instead of mounting the camera on a tripod, why not use the floor or through a crowd?
Keeping a fresh perspective maintains fresh photos!
5. Get Closer
I am my own telephoto lens and you are too!
Instead of zooming in, get involved in the photo; see things from a different angle – this allows for a different perspective. Search for the finer details that would usually be overlooked in a scene and make these the subject if you really want your photos to stand out.
Think before you shoot or you’ll forget to think at all.
6. Clean up your Background
The background is as much a part of your photo as the subject so make sure it’s not cluttered and messy. Moving your camera just a few degrees to the side may make all the difference when it comes to cleaning up your shot.
Think about what’s in your viewfinder or on your screen and ask yourself if each individual element adds anything to the photo? If the answer is “no”, it’s taking away from the photos.
Branches, sky and other people are just a few things to look out for. The branch in the shot below really bugs me.
7. Frame your Subject
Look for a way of putting a frame within a frame, like a doorway or window. In the in the photo below I have used a bluebell flower.
Framing can add context to your photos, telling the viewer a little more about what’s going on and where the photo was taken. Not only does this add a sense of depth but also another element of interest that the photo didn’t have before.
8. Get your White Balance Right!
The WB is all about the colour cast of your photos.
Shooting indoors without a flash often results in the people in your photos appearing to have a nasty orange coloured skin. Mastering WB really sets you apart from other people, most of whom aren’t even aware of the problem, and will dramatically improve your end results.
9. Use the Histogram
LCD displays on digital cameras are getting better these days but are still subject to the environment you’re in.
If you’re out and about on a really sunny day, you’ll find that shading the display with your hand doesn’t do the job when it comes to looking at photos.
The histogram is a mathematical representation of how well exposed an image is; a great basis for improving your photography (don’t worry, it’s not as complicated as it sounds).
10. Practice Practice Practice!
Rome wasn’t built in a day; if you want to get good at anything in life, you have to work hard at it – these things don’t come for free.
The fortunate thing about photography is that it’s a lot of fun to play around with and, even though you still think you suck from time to time, with just a little practice, you will always begin to see results in your photos.
Take the steps listed above and read some of the tutorials on this website – you’ll be an expert in no time.

Scripture in James warns us that our tongues are destructive and we should be cautious of that. James 3:6 says, “And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself,” and James 3:8 says, “…but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison.”

Once the words we speak leave our mouths, we can’t take them back, no ifs, ands, or buts. We’ve all experienced the ever-so trusty ‘foot-in-mouth disease’, and have then been tempted to grab at the air in an attempt to take our words from being heard. Unfortunately, it is far too late by that point.
Our words wield the power to build up, and likewise, the power to tear down. They also carry the power to bring glory to God, or the power to bring glory to ourselves. What category do your words fall under? It’s no challenge to us to barely even think about what we’re speaking, because we’re doing it so much. Think about the sheer amount of words that you say in twenty four hours. Think of the conversations with coworkers, strangers, loved ones, or even the words you speak to yourself. As you reflect, which words brought the attention to Him?
If I honestly ask myself, the answer to that question would be…not many. It seems in the course of a day I spend more time either making idle chat, complaining, or bringing others down. Jesus isn’t even in the equation.
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath,” James 1:19 writes. This brings light to the fact that sometimes we’re speaking in such great amounts, we fail to silence and listen to God–we neglect the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. I don’t know about you, but how do I have the audacity to do such a thing?
In Matthew 15:18 Jesus tells Peter that the words we speak come directly from the heart. A heart that is intertwined with the Lord in daily prayer and bible study is a heart that is less likely to use their gift of speech for sin. Indeed, mistakes will still be made as we’re still human beings, but we will be more conscious of what flows from our mouths.
Go to the Lord today, He is there. Ask Him to bring attention to what’s in your heart that is causing your words, and to give you a sense of attention and awareness for what we speak. Ask Him for understanding on when to be like James 1:19 and be slow to speak. Above all, thank God for always loving and staying beside you, even when you don’t do the same.

When our lives are in a whirlwind, where do we even begin? Over the years many people have told me that during times of trial, tribulation, or just plain confusion we do one of two things: turn to God or away from Him. Looking back, I can think of far too many instances where I threw in the towel

and turned my back on God. On the other side of things, there have been times where all I did in the midst of a storm was cling onto Him. When the going gets tough, where do you fall?

That’s the thing, it feels like more often than not I merely fall. I’m not falling to my knees like I should, I’m not giving my burdens to Him as 1 Peter 5:7 says.
We must remember that God doesn’t want us to aim for perfection before we go to Him. He wants us to come as we are. Yes, He wants our broken, imperfect selves. Next time your world has just been shaken and your mind is racing at one hundred miles per hour, start by praying to Him despite how other people see you, or even how you see yourself.
Laying whatever concerns plaguing your heart upon His feet doesn’t take away the situation you’re facing, however it does give you the peace and hope you need to keep going onward.
Next, you remember to plan and then you proceed in those plans. Now that you have peace –a peace that reassures you that no matter the outcome, He will always be there–how do you anticipate moving forward in this event? How can God be glorified throughout all of this?

Pray, plan, and proceed are three words to keep within your heart for the times that you’re facing a fork in the road.

As a child, an upcoming birthday–or simply thinking about your age–always brings out an excited response. It’s not rare to see that once-energetic reaction die down a little as the years go on.
We’ve all been there, and if you haven’t, you will likely be there at some point…that’s right, wanting to go back to the past. From the throwback posts to the ‘share if you’re a 90’s kid’,

nostalgia is everywhere. I would be lying if I said that in the recent months I’ve been suddenly compelled to comb through old yearbooks, photo albums, and even look up childhood friends. It is incredibly easy to get caught up in nostalgia, but snapping out of that yearning mentality is the opposite of that. Reminding yourself that you’re ultimately wasting the time you have in this moment, by focusing on your past, is easier said than done.

Recently I decided to read the book of Ecclesiastes. I would describe it as the slap in the face that I so desperately needed, but Ecclesiastes did that for me in chapter 12, verse 11: “The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails–given by one shepherd.”
Goad is another word for cattle prod, therefore it’s likening the words of the wise as something pesky, but ultimately helpful. This properly explains this specific book of the Bible, as it advises you to relish the life you have before it’s too late. From a humanly perspective, it comes off as ‘harsh,’ but keeping that main theme in mind allows you to gain valuable lessons from it. Our lives as we know them on earth are merely temporary, but God’s hold on the universe gives us an enduring hope and a purpose. We must always keep that on our hearts.
As I was reading, my eyes latched onto Ecclesiastes 7:10. They read, “Do not say, ‘Why were the old days better than these?’ For it is not wise to ask such questions.”
I read that verse until those twenty words started to look like unfamiliar gibberish. In that moment, I knew God was speaking to me. So many times I’ve addressed the ‘good old days’. So many times I’ve longed for those memories. So many times…and if I could add the minutes I’ve spent wallowing in the past, how much time have I taken from my present?

It wasn’t until this moment that I truly listened to God in regards to that. He was loud and clear. Ecclesiastes 3:14 writes, “I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.” God has His hands on all of our lives. Whether we make a mistake and wish we could change it or experience a pleasant thing that we wish we could go back to, God is imploring us to keep our eyes forward.

A young boy sits next to his little sister in their bedroom. As she is hiding her face in his arms, he asks himself, what is love? He thought parents were supposed to love each other.

A teenage girl is lying on the bathroom floor. Through the tears she can barely see the razor, let alone the marks on her leg. She shouts to the empty air, what is love? She felt as if she had nobody to show her.
A woman is picking out another long-sleeved shirt to wear at work in July. She does it to hide the bruises that she has to face every day, bringing her to ask, what is love? She is beginning to believe that this is it.
It’s a question that seems to be as old as existence itself. What is love?
Many people spend their entire lives searching for it, turning up hardened hearts and crushed spirits. We expel all of our energy running towards material things such as money, clothes, or cars, hoping to find love in that. Matthew 6:19-21 advises us not to build up material things while we’re living on earth. They are merely temporary. Money runs out, clothes tear, and cars deteriorate. We also run to societal standards like status, beauty, or jobs. We think that maybe, just maybe, I’ll love myself and receive love when I’m this and I have that. Just as verse 21 says, we can’t take those things to Heaven with us. It’s not true love after all, and it shouldn’t be our priority.
Others beg for God to show them. When we fall upon the feet of Jesus, we see that He is love. It’s easy to become used to hearing about what Jesus did, especially during the Easter, as silly as that sounds. But it happens, and when you truly think about it–about the beating, mocking, loneliness, all of it–you see His love and His sacrifice. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Humans are the closest thing you can get to true love. We can love deeply and hard. Oh, how imperfect we are, though. Each one of us sins, makes mistakes, is selfish, the list goes on and on. However, we can look to Jesus, the end-all-be-all epitome of love, and make it a daily endeavor to be like Him.

At the end of the day, this age old question isn’t hard to find after all. All we must do is look to Him for a true love that will persevere. When you are down and out or simply need to be reminded, repeat these three sentences to yourself: Jesus is love. Jesus sacrificed His life for me. Therefore, love equals sacrifice.

Just like our lives overall, our spiritual lives can easily be compared to that of a roller coaster. It seems that when we go to church on Sundays we are at our spiritual high, but by the time Wednesday rolls around we return to a spiritual low.

I’ve noticed that when I am experiencing a spiritual low, my days are harder, my mood is negative, and my self control fails me entirely. Whenever that hits me and I catch myself wallowing in my woes, asking why it’s happening, I fail to see God right there in front of me. Between everything that goes on in a day, unfortunately it’s all too easy to build a wall between ourselves and Him. Like I have far too many times, when things get rough we beg God to do something, to write a message in the clouds, even.
How long will it take for us to realize that He’s been there all along? Hebrews 13:8 reminds us of that very thing, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” He is there while we’re angry with Him, asking why me? He is there while we’re discouraged, pleading with Him to give you a sign. He is there while our heads are above water and we think we don’t need Him. He is there, He is there, He is there.
A few years ago I was on the spiritually low end of things. I was stressed at that point and quite frankly, fed up with how quickly a week could turn sour. The more I thought about it, was the brighter the light bulb turned on in my head. The same thing that sent me into a whirlwind on Thursday happened at the beginning of the week not too long prior, but I handled it differently.
I connected the dots and realized it had to do with my relationship with God. Of course the beginning of the week was better than the end, because I still had the Sunday message fresh on me. That is when I made it an intentional part of my daily schedule to have a quiet time with Him.
I was amazed by how incredibly a fifteen-minute bible study and prayer could transform my morning. And when it transformed my morning, it did the same with the remainder of my day. That definitely did not act as a shield, deflecting me from any stressful situations. They came about just as normally, but my response was what changed–for the better.
I noticed that by maintaining my relationship with God by having quiet time, I was removing a piece of the wall that I built between us. My conversations with coworkers and loved ones glorified Him more, and my actions tried to reflect Christ as must as I could.

Whether you do it in the morning or before bed, we must not forget to read His word and talk to Him. We don’t maintain relationships with our friends by only going to them in times of need–we maintain them daily, regardless of the seas we’re sailing.

4 Web Marketing Tips for Real Estate Agents

Written By
Web marketing is one of the latest trends in real estate. Before the web became the coolest and most popular tool in hand, real estate agents used old fashion methods of finding leads to sell or show a home. The IDX provides a list of homes for sale for the average website visitor to view when landing on an agents website, but the trick is to get the average website visitor to land on the agents website. To do that, there are some 4 web marketing tips that the Niteskape team has created below. These 4 marketing tips are free to do and great tips that actually work.
1- Subscription. A subscription system is a great way for agents to send their interested web visitor new homes that are currently on the market. It has been proven that there is a sale with constant subscription within 6 months!
2-Videos. Videos are a great way for agents to connect with their followers through sites like youtube and vimeo. Given off their knowledge through videos will attract those who are in need of that knowledge and lead to a possible sale.  A great idea for agents would be to give a video tour of some communities in the area. Most individuals who will be searching for homes in those communities will be very interested in seeing whats out there.
3-Social Media. Social media is very popular in 2016. Growing a fan base with social media can lead to possibly making a sale or two though your main relator website. The great thing about social media is that it allows agents and other people who may be interested in homes to share ideas and connect. Social media is a great way to meet people out of the blue and make some great connection both in the professional sense and personal!
4-Website Blogs. Starting up a wordpress blog on your website will bring massive success and followers. To be a successful blogger on the web, the first thing needed is great content.
