Finding yourself in Christ means a lot more than it appears.  God has created every one of us for a purpose to be fulfilled here on earth and until we begin to live the way God wants us to, we will never find that purpose. Jesus told us that “you have to lose yourself in other to find yourself.” This could seem paradoxical to your ears but have you sat down to think and meditate on what He meant by this statement.
[Matthew 10:39] He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”

Hence, Jesus is telling us that to be like him, we must lose our pride and be submitted to Him in all our ways. The Bible makes us understand that pride is a great sin. Satan had pride and made him misbehave in heaven which resulted to chasing him down. We have many other personalities that fell for pride in the Bible. Let us take Goliath and David in the Old Testament as case study.
Goliath was so confident in his strength and valor, he forgot he was a creature created by a Creator and he underrated the God of Israel when David challenged him in the Bible. David casted away every pride and challenged Goliath in God’s name.
[I Samuel 17:45] “Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.”
We all know how God gave David flawless victory over the arrogant giant (Goliath) because David casted his pride away and relied on God to do fight the battle. He was able to find his true self as a victorious warrior. After the battle with Goliath and victories over philistine, the people of Israel praised and acknowledged David, even more than King Saul.
[I Samuel 18:7] “And the women sang to one another as they made merry, “Saul has slain his thousands and David his ten thousands.”
Hence, it is important to cast away your pride and submit yourself into His hands. You will even serve and understand him better when you do these.

Another important step to take after submitting yourself to Christ is to look for evidence, as you study, that you are a child of God. Also look for evidence that God is; Creator,  holy, good, righteous, loving, and not capable of any evil. Look for writings that projects God’s love for his children, an everlasting love that mirrors and transcends a parent’s love for a child. This will provide you with the theoretical knowledge to believe Jesus died for you so as to redeem and give you an everlasting place in his kingdom. Knowing that your true self is connected to the fact that God created you and loves you, even though you are a sinner, provides true confidence to find yourself in Christ and you will know that you are truly loved unconditionally.
